PSC candidate rips opponent for criticizing others

FARGO — The Republican candidate for North Dakota Public Service Commission says he's tired of his opponent's attacks on two of the commission's incumbent Republicans.

State Sen. Randy Christmann says Democratic candidate Brad Crabtree's criticism of commissioners Kevin Cramer and Brian Kalk is hypocritical, and says they detract from the campaign.

Crabtree has suggested that Cramer and Kalk are ignoring the state's anti-bribery law by accepting campaign contributions from industries they regulate.

Christmann is holding news conferences Tuesday in Fargo and Bismarck. He says Cramer and Kalk have done nothing wrong because the donations are from individuals, not companies.

The Hazen senator says Crabtree is exercising the same practice by accepting money from "militant environmentalists."

Crabtree has not criticized Christmann for campaign donations he has received.

Crabtree wasn't immediately available for comment.
