Man dead, woman hurt in head-on crash near BelfieldBELFIELD, N.D. – One man is dead and a woman was injured after a head-on collision on Highway 85, 16 miles south of Belfield, about 11:23 p.m. Thursday.
Mickenzie Robertson, of Bowman, was going north on Highway 85 in a 2006 Chevrolet pickup when she appeared to have drifted into the southbound lane, a North Dakota Highway Patrol news release stated.
Patrick Moore, of Richardton, was traveling south on Highway 85 in a 2003 Pontiac and he tried to steer into the north lane to avoid Robertson’s vehicle just before the collision occurred, according to the patrol.
Robertson’s vehicle went into the west ditch and came to a rest. Moore’s vehicle came to a rest on the roadway. Both vehicles suffered major front-end damage.
Robertson suffered injuries and was transported to Dickinson by ambulance, then flown to Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The investigation by the Highway Patrol is ongoing. No charges have been filed at this time.
