Mental Health America of North Dakota has received a $2,000 grant from American Veterans Post 7 in Fargo and a $4,000 grant from the F-M Area Foundation.
The grant from American Veterans Post 7 will be used for the “Bridging Cultures” training program, which will be in 2013 and will be used to train local primary care physicians, nurses, counselors and others in traditional healing methods to more effectively treat Native American veterans and service members diagnosed with behavioral health disorders.
The foundation grant will help fund the “Do More for 1 in 4” project that raises public awareness of five of the most common behavior health disorders. The project will enable college students to recognize symptoms in themselves or in others and seek treatment.
