Motorcycle crash injures one in Grand ForksGRAND FORKS – A 29-year-old Grand Forks man was hurt Wednesday night when his motorcycle bumped the back of another motorcycle on an Interstate 29 on-ramp and he was thrown from the bike, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
Larry Mendivil was riding behind 19-year-old Christopher Hoffman, also of Grand Forks, on the northbound on-ramp at 32nd Avenue South when Hoffman slowed down to avoid merging into a car in the driving lane of I-29, the patrol said.
When Hoffman slowed down, Mendivil’s 2012 Harley-Davidson hit the back of Hoffman’s 2006 Yamaha. Mendivil lost control of his motorcycle and it turned onto its left side, throwing him from the bike, the patrol said.
Mendivil was taken by ambulance to Altru Hospital. Hoffman, who was wearing a helmet, wasn’t hurt.
The crash, which happened at 9:30 p.m., remains under investigation.
