Warrant issued for West Fargo man accused of dog neglectFARGO – A warrant was issued Wednesday for the arrest of a man accused of leaving two dogs in a West Fargo garage this summer for more than two weeks.
A bench warrant was issued in Cass County District Court for Jason Daniel Weisgerber, 25, after he failed to appear at an arraignment hearing.
Weisgerber was charged in June with depriving an animal of necessary food and water, a class A misdemeanor.
According to court records, neighbors reported the dogs had been in the garage for at least three days on June 4.
When officers checked on the animals, they could smell feces and saw that the dogs pushed some of it out of the garage through a two-inch gap between the ground and garage door, court records said.
Officers attempted to reach Weisgerber, who did not return phone calls.
One of the people who complained to police about the treatment of dogs was able to pass water to the animals through a gap beneath the garage.
The dogs are believed to have been in the garage until June 22 when a search warrant was issued to remove the dogs, court records say.
The temperatures during that time hovered in the 80s.
