Cass County man headed to trial for manslaughter charge linked to fatal crashFARGO – The trial for a man facing manslaughter charges after a fatal rollover crash last fall may begin in October.
An Oct. 23 jury trial is scheduled in Cass County District Court for Keagan Allan Haase of Paige, N.D.
Keagan pleaded not guilty in April to charges of manslaughter, aggravated reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance.
The charges followed a Nov. 5 accident in which Joshua Melvin, 30, of Page, was killed.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol’s report, Haas was driving a 1998 Chevy Suburban Amenia when the vehicle went off a curve, entered a ditch and vaulted over an approach. It struck a stop sign while airborne and rolled when it landed in a field, the report states.
Haas, Page and a female passenger, Jody Arttus, 43, of West Fargo, were all ejected from the vehicle. Haas and Arttus were hospitalized.
