Forum praised for crash reportsI could not disagree more with Cortney Mullins (letter, July 28), and perhaps she would be singing a different tune had she known the Deutscher family personally. Maybe if Mullins had held Brielle in her arms, or had given Allison her baby shower, or had shared fun times with Aaron, she would have stronger feelings as to Wyatt Klein’s “poor” choice.
Why should he rest in peace while the families and friends of that beautiful and happy group suffer here on an Earth that will never again have them around? This man shattered lives because he made a “poor” decision? He made a tragic decision.
Drinking and driving and the harm it can cause cannot be drilled into repeat offenders enough. Klein can serve as an example of what can happen while drinking and driving, and his criminal past is an illustration of what is wrong with our laws today. I hope people never forget his name and the names of the family whose lives he took.
While I agree that focusing on this will not bring anyone back, it could save lives in the future. If this coverage of Klein gets just one habitual drunken driver off the road, then The Forum should be commended for its coverage.
