Former Bismarck High coach Feeney diesBISMARCK – Former longtime Bismarck High School football coach Bob Feeney died Monday at his Bismarck home at age 73.
Feeney was head coach at Bismarck for 25 seasons and posted a 169-82 record, including state titles in 1984 and 1985.
He retired in 1998.
Feeney’s coaching career lasted a total of 36 seasons (234-110-1 overall record), including stops in Cando and Dickinson Trinity prior to Bismarck.
Moorhead High School head football coach Kevin Feeney – who also was a head coach at Fargo South and Fargo Shanley – is one of Bob’s three sons.
Kevin, who won three Class 3A state crowns at South, credits his father for his coaching success.
“He was the one I looked up to the most, and there was no one better to help a young coach get started,” Kevin Feeney told the Bismarck Tribune. “He paved the way for me. He paved the way for a lot of people.”
