Colors in our community: Visually striking red has many meanings

Many foods are only red once they ripen and we see them at the end of the growing season. But red has many meanings; caution, sin, passion, debt. It is a color of patriotism, but also the accusation of communism. It is the color of fast cars and stop lights. To the ancients, it followed only black and white in importance; perhaps due to blood’s support of life. Here, we see it used some of these ways and more.

Today is the fifth installment of a six-week series on the colors in our community. Forum photographers are scouring the Fargo-Moorhead for the hues that accompany our beautiful summer days.

Each Wednesday we’ll share a different shade, but we want to get your shutters clicking, too.

Send your own color-inspired photos to web@forumcomm.com with the “color” in the subject line. Then check inforum.com for our online photo gallery of each color.
