Lind: Photo subjects ID’d once and for all

Once and for all, the people in this photo of the Wimmer’s Jewelry-sponsored WDAY radio man-on-the-street program of years ago have been identified.

The man on the left is Jack Lester, according to Gil Stout, Fargo, who says Jack was at WDAY about the time Gil was with KFGO.

Forum readers identified the other men earlier.

Another story appearing here was of the Fargo Public Library’s old bookmobile, with Katherine Rogne as its librarian and her husband Leslie Rogne as the driver.

Bill Treumann, formerly of Fargo and now of St. Paul, writes that he read that column “with greatest interest.”

“I have known the Rognes since 1955,” Bill writes. “Our three kids were patrons of the bookmobile.” So he made sure all three got copies of that column.

On another matter: this summer’s hot weather.

How hot has it been?

Well, Forum cartoonist/illustrator Trygve Olson, Moorhead, asks, “Anyone hear of poaching eggs in a bird bath?”

That’s a pretty hot statement, coming from Tryg, who is not a hard-boiled kind of guy.
