Four juveniles face car-prowling charges in West FargoWEST FARGO – Four juveniles face charges after police here responded to a report of car prowlers at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of 10th Avenue West.
Police initially detained one juvenile male believed to be responsible for entering several unlocked vehicles in the area, Assistant Police Chief Mike Reitan said.
A girl who was seen in the area acting suspicious led officers on a foot chase and got away. Police set up a perimeter and brought in a K-9 unit. As the dog was trying to track the girl, police stopped a vehicle driving by the outer area of the perimeter and detained two juvenile males, Reitan said.
The girl was later located at her home, he said.
The juveniles face charges including theft from a motor vehicle, fleeing an officer on foot and minor in consumption of alcohol.
Reitan said officers recovered a “fairly substantial” number of items taken from vehicles but haven’t located all of their owners. He reminded the public to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock their doors.
