FARGO — A Saint Michael man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after colliding head-on with a vehicle on the Spirit Lake reservation.

U.S. Attorney Timothy Purdon says Douglas Allen Baker, also known as Douglas Lawrence, pleaded guilty to the charge in federal court.

Baker was driving in rural Saint Michael in September when he collided head on with another driver. The driver of the other car, Dana Grow of Grand Forks was killed. Baker's blood-alcohol concentration was .21. The legal limit for driving in North Dakota is .08.

The involuntary manslaughter charge carries a maximum penalty of eight years in prison. Baker will be sentenced Oct. 15.
