Fired aide Brodkorb sues state, Senate

ST. PAUL, Minn. β€” Fired Minnesota Senate aide Michael Brodkorb is suing over his termination last December after being involved in an extramarital affair with the top Senate leader.

Brodkorb field a lawsuit Monday in Ramsey County against the state of Minnesota, the Minnesota Senate and a top Senate official. He claims gender discrimination because he says female employees involved in workplace affairs were treated differently.

Brodkorb says in his filing that the episode has caused him β€œto incur emotional distress.”

Brodkorb also admits to the affair with Sen. Amy Koch, who resigned from her post as Senate majority leader and is not seeking re-election.
