Car accident injures teen in rural MenahgaMENAHGA, Minn. – A teenager here was injured by a vehicle Saturday when she tried to cross Highway 71.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol:
Brian G. Underland, 40, of Willmar, was driving southbound on Highway 71 south of town at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.
At the same time, Samantha V. Wadsworth, 13, of Menahga, started to cross the road in front of Underland’s vehicle.
Underland reportedly swerved and braked while steering into the oncoming lane of traffic.
Nonetheless, Wadsworth made contact with the front fender and passenger’s side mirror of Underland’s vehicle. Wadsworth was airlifted to Park Rapids. She reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.
Menahga is 35 miles east of Detroit Lakes and about 65 miles south of Bemidji.
