ND’s DUI laws are not adequate

The DUI fines in North Dakota are a mere pittance compared to a lot of other states. North Dakota needs to be more aggressive. The Legislature could look at states where drinking and driving convictions have declined and use those states as a model.

The deaths of the Deutscher family need not have occurred. The loss of this young family is so tragic. Tougher state laws, such as mandatory jail time, vehicle impound, higher fines and revocation of license for first- time offenders would change people’s attitudes. Citizens, it is time to wake up.

My most genuine and deepest heartfelt sympathy to the families.
