FARGO - Hair products can be expensive – and smelly.

I’ve tried a lot of them, looking for products that hold my style without overpowering my olfactory senses or breaking the bank.

Here are some of my current favorites:

I wash, dry and curl or straighten my hair almost every day. And I color it. So it’s pretty dried out.

My mom recently suggested I try Avon’s Advance Techniques Damage Repair Shampoo, Conditioner and 3D Rescue Leave-In Treatment.

The products leave my hair feeling soft and silky without an overpowering scent.

The shampoo and conditioner regularly sell for $6, and the Leave-In Treatment sells for $12, but I’ve never paid that much since Avon often offers discounts.

Suave has several hair products on my favorites list. I love that they’re inexpensive at $2.74 to $3.49, and they don’t leave an overwhelming odor behind. Most importantly, they work.

My hair is very limp and flat, so I typically start my style with a mousse. Suave’s Volumizing Mousse gives my hair added fullness without weighing it down.

I want a hairspray that holds my style without giving me “helmet head,” and Suave’s Touchable Finish Lightweight Hold hairspray does just that. It has a light floral scent that doesn’t linger.

While Suave’s dry shampoo spray does have a stronger scent than the rest of the products, I do like how it works.

In addition to letting me get away with skipping a day of washing my hair, the spray also helps add some lift and texture to my typically limp locks.
