MSCTC NEWS: Kara Butze and Julee Sather, Moorhead, were named to the president’s list at Minnesota State Community and Technical College.

CONCORDIA COLLEGE NEWS: Michael Gehrtz, son of Steve and Elaine Gehrtz, Moorhead, has been awarded a Faculty Scholarship from Concordia College.

Davis Baana, son of Todd and Carolyn Baana, Fargo, has participated in the Concordia Language Villages program by attending Waldsee, the German Language Village in Bemidji, Minn.

UND NEWS: The following students were inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society at the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks: Laura Fugleberg, Aaron Motacek, Andrea Laraway, Jamestown, N.D.; Anthony Swanholm, Claire Larson, Fargo; Kara Beth Fisher, Emily Muxfeldt, Fergus Falls, Minn.

NDSU NEWS: North Dakota State University has awarded scholarships to the following area students: Abigail Diekman, daughter of Steven and Renee Diekman, Fargo, $1,000 Honor Scholarship and $500 Freshman Academic Scholarship; Amy McDonald, daughter of Jay and Carol McDonald, Fargo, $10,000 Presidential Honor Scholarship; and Catharine Vetter, daughter of Con Vetter, West Fargo, and Cheryl Vetter, Horace, N.D., $2,000 Henry and Em Eggert Honors Scholarship, $2,000 Freshman Academic Scholarship and $1,000 Textbook Scholarship.

The following students were named to the dean’s list at North Dakota State University: Daniel Audette, Patrick Hebert, Grant Hermanson, Briana Keller, Haram Kim, Kevin Kuechle, Hunter Row, Angela Sherman, Fargo; Dimitri Boreisha and Laura Nessa, Moorhead.

MSUM NEWS: Minnesota State University Moorhead has awarded $1,000 Upper Class Academic Scholarships to Arica Flach, child of Michael and Jordan Flach, Fargo, and Nicholas Enger, child of Lin and Kathy Enger, Moorhead.

MAKING THE GRADE: Katerina Voronova has been honored with membership into the International Dean’s List Society for exemplary academic performance at North Dakota State University.

Aimee Knutson, Moorhead, was named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa: Kristin Westby, Erhard, Minn.; Maria Ellingson, Moorhead; Maia Mastel, Naomi Sandgren and Jacob Schnabel, all Fargo.

Sarah Lyngby, Fergus Falls, Minn., was named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse: Ashley Leier, Moorhead; Tanner Hofius, Kelsi Vomacka, Perham, Minn.; and Benjamin Woodman, Underwood, Minn.

Dylan Boucher and Chalsey Falk, Moorhead, and Tracy Westenberg, Park Rapids, Minn., were named recipients of the Chancellor’s Award at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, for achieving a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Valerie Milicevic, Fargo, and Chelsea Hanson, Enderlin, N.D., were named to the dean’s list at Dickinson (N.D.) State University.

Kathryn Davies, Fargo, has been named to the dean’s list at Columbus (Ohio) State Community College.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list at Northwestern College, St. Paul: Jacob Fletcher, Danielle Militzer, Moorhead; Anthony Potts and Amanda Robson, Fargo.

Andrew Johnson, Fargo, was named to the dean’s list at Emory University, Atlanta.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS: Travis Beauchene, Fargo, has been awarded the Morris Louis Endowment Fellowship in Fine Arts for the 2012-2013 Academic Year at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. The fellowship is awarded to students who show outstanding promise in the art of painting. Beauchene earned his bachelor’s degree in fine arts at NDSU and will begin studying for his master’s degree at George Washington in the fall.

North Dakota Dollars for Scholars has awarded $15,000 Edson and Margaret Larson Foundation Leadership Scholarships to Cameron Leach and Levi Bachmeier. Leach, a graduate of Fargo South High School, was awarded the scholarship designated for graduate students, and Bachmeier, a graduate of West Fargo High School, was awarded the scholarship designated for undergraduate students. Applicants must have a grade point average of 3.7 and an ACT score of 27.

Debra Rustad, a resource certified nursing assistant at Bethany Retirement Living, has been awarded a Raer Family Scholarship. The Raer Family Fund was established to provide scholarships for students who are studying in order to provide care for the elderly. Rustad is currently pursuing her registered nurse license.

Taylor Isaac and Hannah Juliot, Fergus Falls, Minn., have been awarded Freshman Honor Scholarships from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.

Home Builders Care of Fargo-Moorhead has awarded scholarships to Logan Hackmann, son of Kristen and Marc Hackmann, Casselton, N.D., and Colten Claus, son of Monica Claus and DeLair Claus, Kindred, N.D. Both took part in the Herdina Academy for the Construction Trades, a two-week course sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead, Minnesota State Community and Technical College - Moorhead and North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton, which introduces high school students to the construction industry. Hackmann will receive $1,000 and Claus will receive $500.

RECENT GRADUATES: Cadet Justin Paul Schumacher, son of Marlene and Perry Schumacher, West Fargo, recently graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Schumacher concentrated his studies in foreign area studies and was named to the dean’s list all four years. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the infantry branch and will report to Fort Bragg, N.C., for his first assignment.

Lance Presser, Jamestown, N.D., has earned a doctorate in microbiology and immunology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Chicago.

The following area students have graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn.: Shannon Denzel, Joel Money, Klara Wagnild, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Devin Nitzkorski, Moorhead.

Sonnet Ludwig, Fargo, has graduated from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, Fla.

The following area students have graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris: Thomas Sullivan, Brandon, Minn.; Dena Johanning, Park Rapids, Minn.; and Jackie Hanson, Moorhead.

Fargo students Eric Estenson, Thomas Jordan and Jason Marsh have graduated from Montana State University, Bozeman.

Andrew Johnson, Fargo, has graduated from Emory University, Atlanta.

ND GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL: Several area North Dakota high school sophomores and juniors recently participated in the 2012 North Dakota Governor’s School held on the NDSU campus. The experience was a six-week hands-on educational honors program that included topics such as laboratory science, mathematics, information technology, English studies and visual arts. AWARDS AND OTHER RECOGNITIONS: Lorraine Breivold, a member of the Fargo Eagles Auxiliary #153, recently received the Eagles Dakota State Auxiliary Hall of Fame Award at an event held in her honor at the Marilyn Ouart home in Fargo.

CONFERENCES AND CONVENTIONS: The following area educators and community members recently learned how to promote school, community and personal healthy lifestyle concepts at the 26th annual Health Promotion Conference in Medora: Theresa Gravdahl, Deb Hallquist, Natalie Richter, Jackie Shultis and Stephanie Swanson.
