Who should get tested for osteoporosis

Osteoporosis can be diagnosed with a bone density scan, a low-radiation X-ray. Here’s who should consider testing:

• All women 65 years and older and all men 70 and older

• Post-menopausal women, especially if they have other risk factors such as a family history of osteoporosis

• Adults who break a bone after age 50
