Favorite Things: SheSays writer shares her favorite ‘minis’

Editor’s note: SheSays Favorites is a weekly feature in SheSays that runs each Monday. SheSays staffers will gather a few of their favorite things to share with readers. Do you have a favorite you’d like to share? Email shesays@forumcomm.com

FARGO - When I was a kid, I collected miniatures.

You know, the tiny ceramic animals positioned on top of white cardboard squares you find at a gift shop.

My fondness for shrunken versions of normal-sized items carried into adulthood with things like mini muffins and travel-sized everything.

Here are my favorite miniature things:

Mini salt and pepper shakers – Growing up, I annoyed my parents by twirling and clinking the individual miniature salt and pepper shakers they kept on the dinner table. They gave me my own set when I moved out.

The Body Shop Mini Hairbrush – I have long, thick, unruly hair that requires midday touchups (except when I let my lion mane go untamed). I keep this bamboo-handled mini brush in my purse.

Mini nail polish – Little bottles of nail polish from brands like Petites and Pixel let me try new colors without wasting much product or money if I don’t like them. Sweet.

Mini pigs – Pigs are cute. Tiny pigs are cuter. On “How I Met Your Mother,” Barney used a teacup pig to lure women into his apartment to seduce them. Smart man.

Mini quiches – When my best friend asks me what she should make for a party, I tell her, “Mini quiches!” Other mini appetizers like cocktail weenies will do, too.

Reese’s Minis – I’ve always loved any size Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, but my favorite are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups Miniatures. Reese’s Minis are the smallest.
