Recount in southeast ND House primary race to be certifiedBISMARCK — Results of a recount in the Republican primary House race in southeast North Dakota could soon be official.
Secretary of State Al Jaeger says the State Canvassing Board is meeting Friday and could certify the results of the recount done last week and early this week in District 28.
The unofficial recount results don't change the results of the June 12 election, in which the top two vote-getters move on to the November general election. Mike Brandenburg is first by a wide margin, and William Kretschmar is ahead of Jeffery Magrum in the race for second. The gap is narrower, however — nine votes rather than 19.
The 19-vote gap in the primary was close enough to trigger an automatic recount under state law.
