18-year-old injured in Otter Tail County boating accidentDENT, Minn. – An 18-year-old male suffered serious injuries in a boating accident on Wednesday, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim was swimming on the north side of West McDonald Lake when he was struck by a passing boat’s propeller.
The injured male was rescued by an occupant of the same boat, owned by Robert Schmit, 49, and was brought to shore, a sheriff’s office release stated.
An ambulance took the male to Perham Memorial Hospital. He was then taken by LifeFlight to Sanford Health in Fargo.
Because the accident is still under investigation, the victim’s name will not be released yet, said Lt. Matt McGuire of the sheriff’s office.
