Police investigating south Fargo robbery

FARGO – Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place here Monday evening at a check-cashing business.

The robbery occurred at a Check N Go on South University Drive around 6:10 p.m., Lt. Joel Vettel said.

Vettel said two males entered the Check N Go near Kmart on 25th Avenue South and South University Drive and showed semi-automatic handguns to the clerk. They were given an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene on foot.

One male clerk was on staff at the time. He called 911 after they left, Vettel said. The clerk was not injured.

Fargo police remained in the area after the robbery looking for possible witnesses and studying surveillance tape. A canine unit was used to attempt to track down the suspects, but Vettel said the attempt was unsuccessful.

Vettel said the two suspects are black males, both around 5 feet 6 inches tall, slim to muscular build and wearing dark long-sleeve shirts. One suspect was wearing blue shorts and the other red shorts, Vettel said. Both of their faces were obscured by a mesh-like material. They are both estimated to be in their mid-to-late 20s.
