Officials to discuss developments in boy's death in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS — Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman and Minneapolis officials are holding a news conference Monday to discuss the latest developments in the killing of a 5-year-old boy.

Police say Nizzel George was sleeping on a couch at his grandmother's house in north Minneapolis last Tuesday when he was hit by a bullet as someone shot at the house from outside.

Police arrested two juveniles last week. Prosecutors have until Monday afternoon to decide whether they will file charges. They plan to make an announcement at 2 p.m.

About 120 people attended a vigil Saturday in the neighborhood where Nizzel died. Residents say they will set up a community crime watch and will attempt to persuade armed teens to give up their guns.
