Let’s have truth about the church

In response to the resignation of Trish Cameron from St. Joseph’s School in Moorhead:

Fact: The Catholic Church does not make the rules about homosexuality, abortion, cohabitation or any other moral issue; neither does the pope. The rules come from a road map that most of us have in our homes, but choose not to use. If you have a few minutes, find your road map and refer to 1 Corinthians 6:9, Romans 1:26, Leviticus 20:13, Jude 1:7, 2 Peter 2:4-6. It is much quicker to strike out on your own without the road map, but danger lurks everywhere without it.

Fact: Any time we work against nature, we find danger – a danger often tied to our physical and mental health.

Fact: As a public school teacher, I am not allowed to use the road map at any time. I am in continual danger if I choose to do so, and will lose my job. So you see public education and parochial education share the same fear.

Fact: St. Joseph’s is a Catholic school that must abide by the road map. The church has educated thousands of generations, and even though many of the church’s men have lost their way, not one of the church’s doctrines has been lost. The purpose of any parochial school is to pass on these doctrines and teach the truth even when the road gets muddy.
