Two injured in Highway 59 head-on collision near Pelican RapidsPELICAN RAPIDS, Minn. – Two Minnesota women were injured Sunday afternoon in a head-on collision northeast of Pelican Rapids, the State Patrol reported.
At 1:53 p.m., Stephen R. Lunde, 71, of Pelican Rapids, was turning to go southbound on U.S. Highway 59 from Fish Lake Road when he turned into the path of a northbound 2005 Chevrolet Equinox on Highway 59 and collided with the vehicle.
Lunde and the driver of the Equinox, 26-year-old Daniel T. Mesner of Farwell, Minn., were uninjured.
The two passengers in Mesner’s SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Detroit Lakes.
A nursing supervisor said both Christina J. Mesner, 21, of Farwell, and Pamela J. Koenig, 56, of St. Paul, were treated and released by 5 p.m. Sunday.
