Police identify woman who died in Fergus Falls apartment fireFERGUS FALLS, Minn. – Police have released the names of a 62-year-old woman who died in an apartment fire here Tuesday night and her son who was injured while trying to save her.
The death of Gayle Dolores Gundberg has been ruled accidental, according to a news release from the Fergus Falls Police Department.
Gundberg’s 32-year-old son, Donavon Loehrer, suffered smoke inhalation and burns and was hospitalized. Residents say he tried to get his mother out of the burning apartment.
The fire at Sunrise Apartments is believed to have been caused by a cigarette that ignited an oxygen tank, the news release stated.
