Weekend watch: Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at the Aquarium
In five years with the Drive-by Truckers, singer/guitarist Jason Isbell wrote some of the group’s most evocative songs (“Outfit,” “Decoration Day,” “The Day John Henry Died”). Since leaving in 2007, however, Isbell has really come into his own, evident on last year’s “Here We Rest,” which tied Gillian Welch for most nominations at this year’s Americana Music Awards.
The singer and his band, the 400 Unit, make their Fargo debut Sunday at the Aquarium, 226 Broadway, playing their tunes like “Alabama Pines” and “Dress Blues” and some of Isbell’s DBT classics. Dann K and Black Casket open the ID-only show at 9. Tickets are $10 in advance, $13 at the door. (701) 235-5913.
