Local driver says Tony Stewart was 'all over the race track'WEST FARGO – One area driver defended himself Thursday, one night after he was flipped off by NASCAR star Tony Stewart during races at Red River Valley Speedway.
Stewart showed Brad Seng of Grand Forks the middle finger after a heat race Wednesday.
“(Stewart) was all over the race track,” Seng told the Grand Forks Herald, a Forum Communications Co. newspaper.
On the last corner of the last lap of a heat, Seng muscled past Stewart to finish third. The top three cars advanced to the feature, while the rest had to qualify through B mains. The contact between Seng and Stewart left the NASCAR star miffed.
“I flipped him off at the scales,” Stewart told the crowd during intermission. “I thought he was going to put me in the eighth row of the grandstand. If I get the chance in the main (feature), I will do it to him and see how he likes it.”
During the feature, the two drivers were side-by-side for a while, but there were no further incidents.
Stewart wound up seventh.
Matt Aukland of Fargo won the feature.
