Two of four district chair recommendations passed by NDHSAA board of directorsVALLEY CITY, N.D. – Two of the four district chair recommendations discussed were passed at the North Dakota High School Activities Association board of directors meetings on Tuesday in Valley City.
The creation of a 14-foot coaching box for basketball that can be adjusted to fit different gyms in the state was approved 8-1. The recommendation to make the shot clocks for boys and girls basketball uniform at 35 seconds was passed 5-4. It will be determined when the new shot clock rule will be adopted at the next NDHSAA board meeting in August. It may be adopted for the 2012-13 school year.
The two recommendations that failed were switching the starts of the boys and girls basketball seasons and the adoption of a seeding system for the Class B volleyball and boys and girls basketball tournaments.
The proposal to start the boys basketball season to begin before the girls was voted down 8-1 and the seeding system was opposed 7-2.
