Head of national utility regulators' group praises ND's ClarkBISMARCK — The president of a national utility regulators' group is praising the choice of North Dakota's Tony Clark for a federal regulatory job.
Clark joins the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday. He is resigning as chairman of North Dakota's Public Service Commission. He will be sworn in to his new position at the North Dakota Capitol.
South Carolina Public Service Commissioner David Wright is in Bismarck for Clark's swearing-in ceremony at the North Dakota Capitol.
Wright is president of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, or NARUC for short. He followed Clark as head of the group.
Wright says having someone with Clark's experience as a state regulator on the federal board is valuable. He says Clark understands the need to keep much utility oversight in state hands.
