Lightning suspected cause of barn fire near Glyndon

GLYNDON, Minn. – Lightning is believed to have sparked a fire that destroyed a pole barn about 6 miles east of Glyndon this morning, Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said.

A neighbor reported the blaze at about 4 p.m. at the Paul Hartke farm at 17226 17th Ave. S., he said.

The fire destroyed the barn and its contents, including an ATV and hay bales, Bergquist said.

Fargo and Moorhead each picked up about 0.9 inch of rain as thunderstorms passed through the area this morning, according to the National Weather Service.
