Judge denies no-contact order sought against arsonist AndvikMOORHEAD – A judge has denied a Clay County prosecutor’s motion to ban a rural Barnesville woman from contacting four witnesses who testified at her arson trial last month.
Assistant County Attorney Heidi Davies sought the no-contact order against 34-year-old Tara Andvik after she sent a letter from jail to Keith Beam, an ex-lover who testified against her at her trial.
The letter was dated May 17, two days after a jury convicted Andvik of three felony arson counts for setting fires to her and her husband’s barn and home last October.
Andvik’s attorney, Steven Mottinger, opposed the motion, saying he didn’t believe the letter was harassing or threatening. He wrote in his response that despite the fact Andvik was found guilty, she “is still entitled to the same constitutional protections and rights as is everyone else.”
