Johnson’s Barbecue wins critic’s award at RibfestFARGO – Johnson’s Barbecue of Chesapeake, Va., won the Critic’s Choice Award today, receiving a $2,000 prize, as the Happy Harry’s Ribfest wrapped up in Fargo.
Desperado’s of Hinckley, Ohio, took second place and a $1,000 prize, while Porky N’ Beans of St. Lucie, Fla., earned $500 for third place.
Judges based their decisions on appearance, tenderness and, most of all, taste, according to a news release. This year’s judges included radio personality Gunner of Q98, Valley News Live sports director Dan Hammer, Hot Spring Spas owner Vince Wuebker, Happy Harry’s Bottle Shops general manager Dustin Mitzel and radio winner Kristi Pfingsten.
The People’s Choice Award went to Aussom Aussies of Pittsburgh, Pa.
The other vendors were Cowboy’s, Willingham’s and Rasta Joe’s.
