Fergus Cyclone Days set for June 18-22FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – The Otter Tail County Historical Society is sponsoring Cyclone Days June 18-22 in the historical museum here.
Cyclone Days commemorates June 22, 1919, when two tornadoes damaged nearly two-thirds of Fergus Falls, leaving more than 50 people dead and hundreds wounded, a news release states. All events are at the museum.
Myron Broschat will speak on the flu pandemic of 1918 at noon on June 18.
Chris Schuelke will host the Lake Alice Cyclone Tour that begins at St. James Episcopal Church at 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. June 19.
There will be a community barbecue and games from 5 to 7 p.m. June 20, followed by storm-chasing adventures at 7 p.m.
Author Lance Johnson will present “The Great Fergus Falls Cyclone” at 7 p.m. June 21.
There will be a gift shop special on the book “The Great Fergus Falls Cyclone of June 22, 1919” on June 22.
