Davies upends Wahpeton for third at Class A state baseball tourneyMANDAN, N.D. - Patrick Murphy drove in three runs and Fargo Davies jumped on Wahpeton for five runs in the first inning en route to a win over Wahpeton in the third-place game of the North Dakota Class A state baseball tournament on Saturday.
The Eagles (26-12) hammered out 14 hits off three Wahpeton (22-16) pitchers. Brock Horner had three hits and Ryan Smith, Nathan Rasmus and Michael Nemer had two each.
Justin Beach gave up nine hits. He struck out five and walked two.
Preston Kath lasted 2/3 of an inning to take the loss for the Huskies. Kath banged out three hits, while Cole Gilles and Travis Thomas had two each for Wahpeton.

Bismarck St. Mary’s 3
Taylor Thiel singled in the winning run with two outs in the seventh as Dickinson edged St. Mary’s for fifth place.
With the game tied 3-3 and two outs, Dylan Skabo singled to left. He stole second and went to third on a throwing error on catcher Preston Tescher.
Thiels followed with his second hit of the game to drive in the winning run.
Alex Huschka got the win in relief of Taylor Kraenzel for the Midgets (20-12).
Huschka went five scoreless innings and gave up two hits while striking out six.
Tate Barnhart took the loss in relief for the Saints (10-25).

Backup catcher Tanner Bittner hit a seventh-inning grand slam and Kyler Olson and Tyer Richter tossed a two-hitter as Bismarck took seventh place. The Demons (21-15) were 5-0 against the Coyotes (12-22) this season.
Seth Falcon took the loss for Williston. He allowed only two unearned runs and four hits.
The Coyotes had just 14 hits and a .192 average in three games.
