Century tops North in Class A softball third-place game

WEST FARGO – Bismarck Century scored four runs in the fourth inning and never looked back.

The Patriots defeated Fargo North 6-1 in the third-place game at the North Dakota Class A state softball tournament on Saturday at Elmwood Park.

Mikaila Wax was 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBIs to pace Century (28-6).

“The bats weren’t there for us the last two games,” North head coach Aaron Kliniske said. “That’s to be expected when you hit all season long like we did. There are going to be droughts. We didn’t get the bounces today.”

Mara Teschendorf was 1-for-4 with an RBI to pace the Spartans (18-10).

Fifth place

Dickinson 8,

Grand Forks Red River 7 (8 inn.)

Jessica Priebe connected for an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to help Dickinson to an 8-7 win over Grand Forks Red River in the fifth-place game on Saturday. Priebe’s game-winning hit scored Madi Steier.

Priebe was 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Dickinson (23-11) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings.

Seventh place

Devils Lake 17, Bismarck 0

Madison Erickson was 4-for-5 with two runs and six RBIs to lead Devils Lake to a 17-0 win over Bismarck in the seventh-place game on Saturday.

The Firebirds finish the season 10-10.
