Grahams Island State Park on Devils Lake rebounds after bad 2011

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — A popular recreation destination on Devils Lake is rebounding after a tough 2011.

Grahams Island State Park was booked solid for Memorial Day weekend. Last year's visitation sagged because it was nearly impossible to get to the park due to flooding-related problems along the park's lone access road.

About 100,000 people normally pass through the park each year. Last year's numbers were half that. But a $15 million project is raising the access road, and Devils Lake State Parks Manager Henry Duray says the lake is actually down a little bit from its peak.
