$500 reward offered in death, illegal possession of bald eagleWISHEK, N.D. – The United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department are investigating the death and illegal possession of a mature bald eagle that was located near Wishek during the 2011 Christmas holiday.
A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the conviction of the person(s) responsible.
According to the news release, a mature bald eagle was left at a private residence near Wishek when no one was home sometime between the early evening of Dec. 23, 2011, and the early afternoon of Dec. 25, 2011.
Bald eagles are protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and North Dakota state law.
