North Dakota governor candidate Ryan Taylor ran Fargo Marathon, wore cowboy hat last 200 yards

BISMARCK — North Dakota's Democrat challenger in the race for governor took a break from campaigning to compete in a real road race last weekend.

Gubernatorial candidate Ryan Taylor ran in the Fargo marathon Saturday. He finished the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours, 40 minutes and 22 seconds, ranking him 370th among the 1,825 finishers.

He said Monday he'll be happy just to finish in the top 50 percent in his governor campaign this fall. He's running against Republican incumbent Jack Dalrymple.

Taylor says he's run marathons previously in Boston and Chicago.

He wore his trademark cowboy had for only about the last 200 yards of the Fargo race. Taylor jokes that his hat would have provided too much wind resistance.
