Teen takes parents’ car, causes $30K of damageFARGO – A Saturday night joyride has gotten a 13-year-old Fargo boy into trouble with the police and his family after he caused nearly $30,000 in damage.
According to Lt. Joel Vetter with the Fargo Police Department, the incident took place on Saturday night at the 3300 block of 31st Avenue South when the boy gained access to his parents’ car and tried to back out of the garage, but instead hit a wall, creating a hole.
The boy tried to drive forward across the street, Vettel said, when he hit another garage wall before panicking and driving away at a high rate of speed. He then parked the car and ran back inside his apartment.
Although there was significant damage to the vehicle and to the garages, Vettel said neither the boy nor any neighbors were injured during the joyride.
