Bison softball advances to Summit League title gameKANSAS CITY, MO. – The North Dakota State University women’s softball team advanced to the Summit League tournament championship with a 2-1 victory over Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne on Friday.
Krista Menke won her second straight tournament game for the Bison, allowing one run in seven innings pitched.
“Krista, she has been great for us this season,” NDSU head coach Darren Mueller said. “She was probably a little tired from the last game but she battled through.”
IPFW’s lone run came in the second inning as first baseman Dani Pugh hit a solo home run off Menke.
Mastodon starting pitcher Courtney Cronin gave up four hits, allowing two runs in her six innings of work.
“She is a good pitcher,” Mueller said of Cronin. “We knew it was going to be a low scoring game and it was big to get a couple runs off of her in the fourth.”
This is the fourth consecutive season NDSU has reached the Summit League championship game. The Bison will play IPFW at 1 p.m. today.
“We just have to go out and play,” Mueller said. “We have to go out and get excited.”
