Wrong-way driver causes on-ramp cycle crashJAMESTOWN, N.D. – A Jamestown man was injured near here after a wrong-way driver on an on-ramp caused him to lose control of his motorcycle.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, 45-year-old Steven Hetletvedt was preparing to take Exit 260 off Interstate 94 on Friday around 5 p.m. when he noticed another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction on the on-ramp.
Hetletvedt steered toward the south edge of the exit to create distance between his and the other vehicle, but was going too fast on the curve and lost control, the patrol said.
The vehicle skidded onto its left side and came to rest in the ditch. Hetletvedt was wearing a helmet, but suffered serious injury to his left leg. He was transported by ambulance to the Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Hetletvedt’s motorcycle suffered approximately $3,500 in damage, the patrol said.
