Moorhead police plan ceremony, swearing-in

MOORHEAD – Two new police officers will be sworn into duty and a third honored for his work here Monday.

Mayor Mark Voxland will administer the Oath of Office at 3 p.m. Monday in the training room of the Law Enforcement Center, 915 9th Ave. N.

Officer Trenton Bachman and Officer Matthew Lambert will be sworn in as Moorhead police officers.

Officer Scott Kostohryz will receive the Moorhead Police Department’s Life Saving Award.

On Feb. 12, Kostohryz was the first to respond to a call at the railroad bridge in the area of First Avenue and 21st Street South. A woman had called a police dispatcher and threatened to jump from the bridge onto 21st Street below.

Kostohryz saw the woman begin to climb over the safety rail of the bridge and grabbed the woman, restraining her. He then took her to the hospital for treatment, according to the news release.
