Weekend watch: Art openings this week
It’s not quite a battle of the sexes, but a pair of same-sex art shows competes for audiences this weekend.
The women are up first with new works from Meghan Duda, Amber Fletschock and Lori Larusso. All have exacto aesthetics in negative space, making their mark by excising bits and pieces from photos (Duda), paintings (Larusso) and sometimes combining them – and more – in collages (Fletschock). The cutting imagery is on display at ecce art + yoga, 216 Broadway, Fargo. Tonight’s reception runs from 7-9. (701) 298-3223.
The men are represented by Cameron Peterson and Christian Gion, Fargo printmakers rolling out their joint show, “Windex,” on Saturday at The Spirit Room, 111 Broadway. Peterson’s lino-cuts and monotypes tackle bolder colors and forms while Gion explores texture and motion in his lithographs and etchings. (701) 237-0230.
