Grand Forks steakhouse closesGRAND FORKS - The Bronze Boot Steakhouse and Lounge, an institution on the city's north end since 1954, has closed.
Signs on all the doors said so today, and so did the beer delivery man who came to take back the kegs and cases of beer. No one at the restaurant, which is at 1804 N. Washington St., would speak to the Grand Forks Herald.
The Herald had contacted the restaurant on Tuesday, when it was still open, but someone identified as the owner hung up.
The restaurant, among the last of the old-time supper clubs, was owned for many years by Darcy Fonder, who bought it in 1960. Fonder died in 2007 at the age of 78, and his family continued to run it.
