Ada man accused of having sex with 15-year-old Moorhead girlMOORHEAD – An Ada man charged with having sex with a 15-year-old Moorhead girl allegedly told her not to tell anyone about it because he had gotten in trouble before for having sex with a girl of the same age.
Randall Ray Pallum Jr., 24, was already a registered predatory offender in Minnesota when he allegedly had sex with the Moorhead girl at her home in June 2010, according to the complaint filed in Clay County District Court.
Pallum is charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine.
Court records show Pallum pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct, a gross misdemeanor, in December 2008. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years of unsupervised probation and required to register as a predatory offender.
The alleged victim in the current case told police she met Pallum through a friend’s brother and began hanging out with him in spring 2010, when she was 15 and he was 22, the complaint states.
In police interviews, Pallum initially denied knowing the alleged victim but later recognized a picture of her as being a friend of someone he knew, the complaint states. When confronted by police April 13 about recent text messages allegedly sent from his phone to hers, he said his phone was stolen two or three weeks earlier, the complaint states.
A warrant for Pallum’s arrest was issued Monday.
