Photo gallery: Patrons tip hats to the Plains at Spring Gala
About 700 people attended the $100-a-ticket affair, many honoring this year’s theme, “Hang on to your hats.”
From dainty pillbox varieties and fashionable fur and feather headpieces to Stetsons and even a sombrero for Cinco de Mayo, chapeaus rose to the occasion.
Colleen Sheehy, director and CEO of the Plains, said it was the biggest and best gala yet in its 16-year history.
“More people. More food. More music. More fun,” she said as Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome played into the night.
“Not having a flood this year helped,” she added. “People just wanted to get out and have fun.”
In addition to the styles worn by attendees, models showed off Fargo designer Christelle Dominique’s dresses and hats.
Attendees hung on to their hats but opened their wallets for the annual art auction. Works by more than 80 artists brought in $48,829, earning the museum $27,687 and the artists $21,142.
