Minot planners approve chemical storage facilityMINOT, N.D. — The Minot Planning Commission has approved a chemical storage facility near the site of a proposed school and a new hotel and restaurant.
The Minot Daily News reports that the commission voted 11-1 to recommend the Minot City Council approve the permit for Baker Hughes Oilfield Operations.
Randy Renfandt, buildings supervisor for Minot Public Schools, asked the commission to postpone action until the school district can determine how the project might affect plans to build a new middle school.
Minot fire marshal Ed Hausauer said Baker Hughes' safety plan exceeds the typical precautions. It includes a berm to contain liquids and a foam sprinkler system.
