NDSU's Cornick, Gatlin will get their NFL chance after signing as free agents

FARGO - Two former North Dakota State football players will get their shot at the NFL. Offensive lineman Paul Cornick was invited for a tryout with the New York Jets’ mini-camp this weekend while cornerback Josh Gatlin, who completed his eligibility in 2010, will be in the Minnesota Vikings’ camp.

The 6-foot-6, 309-pound Cornick was named to several Division I Football Championship Subdivision all-American teams. The first team all-Missouri Valley Football Conference selection was invited to participate in the NFL combine in Indianapolis in February, but a back injury limited his availability.

Gatlin burst on the scene his senior year in 2010 to lead the Bison with five interceptions. He signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent but did not make the team. A thumb injury limited his practice time.
