Hospital officials help Jamestown cashier in labor

JAMESTOWN, N.D. — Two Jamestown hospital employees on a routine trip to Walmart found themselves called to duty when the cashier went into labor.

Jeremy Schiele and Dane Grebel on April 19 were trying to exchange a television set bought for a hospital office when cashier Heather Elston's water broke. Neither man is a doctor, but they had a hospital van equipped with a wheelchair.

The two men — with new TV in tow — wheeled Elston out to the van and drove her to the emergency room. Elston underwent an emergency cesarean section. She tells the Jamestown Sun that both she and baby Juanita are doing fine, and she appreciates everything Schiele and Grebel did for her.
